The top of the leaderboard on Wales Rally GB remains largely unchanged after another 104 kilometres of competition through the double loop of three stages,Crychan, Epynt and Halfway finishing the nifght off with a blast round Cardiff's Millennium Stadium.

Ford’s Mikko Hirvonen continues to lead from team-mate Marcus Grönholm by a gap of 35.5 seconds and reigning World Champion Sébastien Loeb (Citroën) in third position a further 39.5 seconds behind the Ford pair. if the positions stay like this Loeb will be take the drivers title at hte end od day three.

The day has however been dominated by Ford Focus driver Jari-Matti Latvala. The Finn has set a blistering pace in appalling weather conditions to win each of the day’s six forest stages. Unfortunately, he was forced out of yesterday’s leg and 12th position belies the pace of the Finn.

Petter Solberg (Subaru) maintains fourth, but the Norwegian spun in the first stage of the day, losing nearly 40 seconds.

He does however have a useful 30.6 second advantage over Citroën driver Daniel Sordo, who holds fifth with one leg remaining.

Australian Chris Atkinson has been battling hard with leading Briton Matthew Wilson and while Atkinson took the advantage, the duo are split by only 10 seconds.

 Manfred Stohl (Citroën Xsara) rounds off the top eight positions.
