Last year’s winners Barry Johnson and Plug Pulleyn head the entry list for Sunday’s (4 November) Pickering-based Malton Forest Rally.
Johnson will, however, not be behind the wheel of his familiar Subaru Impreza WRC but a Mitsubishi Evo Step 2 WRC as he bids to defend his victory.
They will be chased by former Scottish champions Dave Weston and Dave Robson in their Ford Focus WRC at number two and Steve Petch/John Richardson in their Hyundai Accent WRC whilst Warren Philliskirk and Emma Slights will be in action in their Metro 6R4.
The entry boasts 65-cars, including around 25 local crews, with a few more entries expected in the final few days leading up to the Malton Motor Club event.
The fifth running of the Malton Forest Rally is once again sponsored by Mellors Elliott Motorsport/Aero Maintenance and will use 45 competitive stage miles in Dalby, Staindale, Cropton and Gale Rigg as well as hosting a spectator special stage, the start/finish and main service area at Pickering Showground.
Spectators are welcome in Cropton and Dalby as well as at Pickering Showground. Day passes cost £7 per car, including a programme, and all money raised above the nominal amount for the Forestry Commission will go to the local Scout Group and Rotary Club, who will be directing car parking on the day.
The first car will run through the showground stage at 8.30am. The first cars will run through Cropton at 9.10am and Dalby at 10.39am.
