Jimmy McRae To Defend His Roger Albert Clark Rally Title PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 15 November 2007

McRaeThe Organisers of the Roger Albert Clark Rally are proud to be able to announce that Jimmy will be back in the Stobart Motorsport Escort when the event starts in Leeds this weekend.

Jimmy won the rally last year after a battle royal with Jeremy Easson in a similar machine, Jeremy narrowly losing after he suffered a throttle cable failure  on the last stage of the event at Croft.

As most of you will know, Jimmy had a highly successful career at the pinnacle of the sport in the eighties, winning the British Rally Championship five times in 1981, 1982, 1984, 1987 and 1988.

In the European Rally Championship for drivers, he was runner-up in 1982, while his highest placing in the World Rally Championship was fifteenth in 1983.

Throughout his career, Jimmy drove for a number of different teams, reaching a pinnacle during his spell in the Rothmans Rally Team, driving an Opel Manta 400. During his time at Rothmans, his team mates were Ari Vatanen, Walter Röhrl and Henri Toivonen.

We are very pleased that Jimmy and his co-driver Andy Richardson will head the field out of Leeds on Saturday and we are sure that they will carry the best wishes of all of us as they tackle the best stages in Yorkshire, The Lake District, Scotland and Northumberland.
