Ellon rally driver Stevie Brown is preparing to travel the length of the country on July 19 for the Swansea Bay Rally, round four of the VK Ford Fiesta Sporting Trophy. The Five Mile Garage backed team are aiming to get their season back on track after mechanical woes have hampered the young Scots previous two rallies.
“We need to get a good finish on the Swasnsea Bay Rally” admitted Brown. He continues,” the forestry roads in Wales are different in many aspects compared to the Scottish forests roads that I’m used to, so we need to use the experience that we gained from the Severn Valley and use it on this round.”
Brown will be partnered by regular co-driver Ian Morrison, with the pair hoping to get back onto the top step of the podium. “We are usually the fastest Scottish crew in the Fiesta’s, but with our problems on the last event we had to relinquish that title, but we’re aiming to get it back this weekend” explained the Nicolson Maps supported crew.
The VK Fiesta Sporting Trophy is made up of the UK and Irelands fastest and most determined young drivers, meaning the pace necessary to take the lead requires total commitment and talent in the bucket load. “For sure it’s difficult to win in this championship, but we’ve proven with our opening round win that we’ve got the pace, and we’re hoping to show that we can win again” admitted Stevie.
The Swansea Bay Rally marks the beginning of the second half of the season. With three rounds remaining, Stevie and Ian will be pushing hard to ensure Scotland is on the winner’s podium yet again.
