The 2008 GET CONNECTED! CARLESS FUELS WYEDEAN FOREST RALLY, was the first round of the BTRDA rally series & associated championships located in the picturesque Forest of Dean.

The Head Quarters & Service Area is more used to horsepower of a different nature based at Chepstow Racecourse where a spectator friendly special stage was used in & around the historic location.

The event voted best MSA Welsh National rally in 2006/07 boasted an exciting entry list with a plethora of WRC machinery some very quick group N’s & the crowd pleasing Ford Escort Mk II’s.

Andy Burton/Shelly Rogerson in the iconic Peugeot Cosworth made amends for their accident on last years event by taking the honours after a ding dong battle with Nik Elsmore/Paul Wakely (Evo 9). The pair swapped the top position until SS4 when Burton finally pulled away with a victory margin of 41 seconds.

The 2007 Gold Star Champions Will Nicholls/Nick Broom (Subaru Impreza WRC) came home third a further 2 seconds adrift of Elsmore, with event sponsor Damian Cole/Craig Drew (Hyundai Accent WRC) & Hugh Hunter/Andy Marchbank (Ford Focus WRC) rounding out the top 5. 

To show how competitive the rally was you didn’t have to look any further than the results for SS6 with no fewer than 8 competitors sharing the best time.
