Woodford daughter and father rally team Jayne and David Auden had a successful outing on last Saturday’s (30 August) Woodpecker Stages Rally.
Driver Jayne and co-driver David finished 70th overall, fifth in class 1.4L and 16th in the 1400 section in their David Auden and Associates Insurance Brokers-backed 1400cc MG ZR on the 45-mile Ludlow-based forest gravel event.
The crew had a trouble-free run and enjoyed a battle for position throughout the event with the identical MG ZR of Jim Ward and Chris Williams and the Vauxhall Nova of Andrew and Chris King, eventually finishing up behind both, just a second behind the Kings.
The stages were slippery in places following the recent wet weather but the Audens came through to post another result and score more points in the ANWCC (Association of North Western Car Clubs) championship.
“I’m a bit disappointed with the result, I’d have liked to have done a bit better but we finished and had an enjoyable event,” said Jayne, 26, who is hard of hearing.
“The stages were great fun and it was nice to have a clean run through the event with no problems although the recent rain meant it was slippery in places and you had to be careful.”
Following the rally, the Audens are seventh in the ANWCC Forest Rally Championship overall standings; they lead class a and the front-wheel drive table.
They will next be in action across the tarmac in the Jersey Rally on 10 – 11 October.
