Peugeot Belgium driver Freddy Loix has claimed his second IRC win of the season on the Barum Rally Zlin, round six of this year’s series. The result has boosted him up to third overall in the standings, and also increased Peugeot’s lead of the manufacturers championship.

The Škoda Fabia Super 2000 prototype is going to make its first appearance as a forerunner at this year's Barum Rally Zlín. As part of the testing process, the participation in the said event is another step on the vehicle's way to homologation scheduled for late this year.

The Barum Rally Zlin, which takes place as round six of the IRC in the Czech Republic next week, has witnessed a record number of 22 Super 2000 cars taking the start. This smashes the previous record for the number of Super 2000 machines to start an IRC event.

Flying Finn Juho Hanninen has won the Rally Russia commandingly by more than two minutes on his debut in a Super 2000 car. Despite having only tested his Peugeot 207 S2000 for 60 kilometres prior to the start of the event, he took the lead from the very first stage and held it right up to the end.

Skoda Auto used the 35th running of the Bohemia Rally to show the protype Skoda Fabia S2000 to the public. The car was on static display at the start ramp of the event run anually from Skoda's Auto Museum in Mlada Bolesav.
