The Bushwhacker Rally 2009, round 8 of the Hankook MSA Northern Ireland Stage Rally Championship hosted by Omagh Motor Club consisted of 10 forest stages covering 37 stage miles near Castlederg Co Tyrone.
Kenny McKinstry driving his Subaru Impreza S8 WRC claimed victory winning by just 6 seconds from the Toyota Corolla WRC of Derek McGarrity, Neil McCance took third spot and the Group N win in his Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 9, with Damien Tourish fourth in his Mitsubishi Evo9. Castledreg man James Gillen finished fifth on his home event in a Subaru Impreza WRC.Top 2WD finisher was Vivian Hamill who was 11th overall in a Mk2 Escort.
The win was Kenny McKinstry's third on the Bushwhacker Rally, having previously won the event in 1990 and '97.
This years Event was Sponsored by McKelvey Asbestos Removal Ltd with a total of 99 cars starting and 73 finishing.
Round Nine takes us to Castlewellan on the 17Oct with the F&M Contracts Down Rally.
