LoebIt was more than mission accomplished for Sebastien Loeb, co-driver Daniel Elena and the Citroen Sport team in the Shell Donegal International Rally that took place this weekend. The World champion stormed his way to one of the most impressive wins ever witnessed on Irish rallying displaying his ability to adapt to the Irish tarmac. Neither Loeb nor Citroen have ever rallied in Ireland before, hence the need to find out what to expect when they come to the Rally Ireland round of the World Rally Championship beginning from the 15th - 18th November.

For Loeb the Donegal Rally was a learning experience. He said of the Rally: "It was a very good exercise. I am delighted with our week end and with the work we've achieved to prepare for Ireland Rally. We now have a very good idea of the type of terrain we will find in November as well as in which direction we need to work for the settings".

Loeb"On my side, I familiarised with those fast, narrow and bumpy stages and with this very special type of tarmac. The level of competition made our coming even more interesting and gave us some good reference. Daniel and I would also like to thank the organisers for the way they hosted us, as well as pay a tribute to the huge number of spectators who have followed us throughout the weekend despite the wet weather. It was great to see as much enthusiasm around the rally. It was a popular event and a real party."

The very charming Citroen PR lady Marie-Pierre Rossi explained when she had confirmation of Sebastien Loeb's Citroen finishing the last stage in first position. "Sebastien enjoyed the rally, found it good to compete on an event where there is so much enthusiasm. This has been a good exercise for Citroen, we have learned a lot about the Irish terrain and how to work at the set up of the car. The different weather conditions will give us a good idea of what to expect in November".
