The reigning Global Group Irish Tarmac Champion Eugene Donnelly has secured a deal with BF Goodrich Tyres to run a DMG Sport Subaru WRC S12. Eugene will use the same car that he campaigned in 2007 which will be updated to S12b spec in time for the Circuit of Ireland in March.
Its taken a lot of hard work to pull things together with very little time after the demise of Reid Motorsport. Eugene is hoping to confirm further backers in the days leading up to the opening round in Galway.
When asked about this years challenge Donnelly commented that he enjoyed all the events in this years calendar, each having its own character. As for the main rivals, Mark Higgins, Peader Hurson, Andreas Mikkelsen and Eamonn Boland would all be strong competitors, Hurson returning to the Tarmac series after a quiet 2007 season. Gossip in the Irish rally fraternity has a possible return to the Galway Rally by Tapio Laukkanen, more later Maybe!.
Eugene was returning home after a hectic weekend competiting in the Live Action Arena at the Autosport show, where he used his Skoda Fabia WRC to entertain the crowds. The Skoda is believed to have been sold onto Graig Bennett also from Ireland
