Drivers registered for the 2009 MSA British Rally Championship make up over a third of the entry on this weekend’s RACMSA Rally of Scotland, the final round of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge, with three British Rally Champions contesting the final round of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge.

2007 and 2008 Champion Guy Wilks heads the BRC challengers, with newly crowned champ and 2009 Pirelli Star Driver Keith Cronin running just one place behind. Outgoing Pirelli Star Driver Adam Gould joins the top three BRC drivers in swapping steeds, all three using different cars on this new event in the IRC calendar.

This year’s Scottish Rally Champion and finishing in the top ten on his 2009 BRC debut is David Bogie who will use his own car for what is arguably his home event. The first of the drivers to be in the same car as the 2009 BRC season is Jonny Greer, who travels across the Irish Sea to pit his skills on this inaugural gravel rally with a fine third to his credit on 2009’s final BRC event.

Dave Weston is another Scot on home soil, fresh from a win on a national forest event and with fourth place in his first British Rally Championship under his belt. Alastair Fisher could argue his place at number nine on the road is a few lower than he expected, since the young Ulsterman took two BRC podiums on his way to third in the series this year.

Although not registered for this year’s BRC, 1995 champion Alister McRae will contest the event at car ten. The former works driver has kept his hand in though, having competed on rally China as recently as last weekend. Fellow Scot Euan Thorburn also contested the SRC, finishing third and, like Bogie inside the BRC top ten.

Icelandic Champion Daniel Sigurðarson contested just one BRC event and is the final BRC four wheel drive driver ahead of the quadruple Fiesta Champion Craig Breen. The young Irishman wheels out a Fiesta R2 and will probably find it difficult to cap what has been an extraordinary debut season.

Kris Hall will also drive the new R2 Fiesta and will want to prove his pace again in equal machinery. Barry Greer is another BRC competitor taking the wheel of his regular production class Fiesta for a final blast in 2009.
